See where Novosibirsk was born: the "City Beginning" Park
A thirteen-meter monument honoring Emperor Alexander III is seen as we get closer to the embankment. It was built in honor of Novosibirsk’s 120th anniversary. In February 1893, he was the one who gave his approval to the Committee of Ministers’ decision to construct a bridge in this exact location, close to Krivoshchekovo village. This marks the beginning of our city’s history. A quotation from the imperial rescript dated March 29, 1891, which marks the start of the highway’s construction, is inscribed on the granite pedestal.
A monument honoring the bridge—or more accurately, the span of the first railway bridge across the Ob—is located closer to the river.
There are comfortable benches, a special bridge for newlyweds, and an alley with tales of Novosibirsk’s heroes in the park "Gorodskoe Nachalo." We’re heading down toward the river, though.
Get acquainted with a popular sport: skate park
Fans of sports stunts are in for a pleasant surprise: a site for extreme rollerblading, skateboarding, scootering, and sports bicycles (BMX) was recently installed directly next to the parapet. Naturally, children make up the majority of those present, but serious athletes also train here. Even city competitions take place here!
It should be noted that the park rents out sporting goods.
Relax or exercise in the fresh air: summer online park
The online park, which Tele2 constructed this year for the first time in Russia, is a location where you can use mobile Internet to comfortably work and unwind outside. Anyone can attend a lecture, watch a movie outside for free, or participate in a master class. Or simply unwind on plush beanbag chairs. This summer, about sixty films were screened in addition to thirty sports broadcasts.
Ride with the wind: bike paths
There is a dedicated 1.3 km bike path on the lower level of Mikhailovskaya Embankment for cyclists of all ages and fans of all other compact modes of transportation. An expansive asphalt pathway featuring signage (including pedestrian crossings!) and designated bike lanes, an exquisite river view, and a somewhat extended path. The drawback, though, might be the throng of people; especially at night, there are a lot of people strolling around, so cyclists need to exercise extra caution. Additionally, you can rent a scooter or bicycle.
Do physical exercise: sports ground
A large sports area with a variety of fitness equipment and equipment appeared on Mikhailovskaya Embankment last year during the next stage of reconstruction and improvement. It is difficult to believe that there is a busy city highway so close by, as it is situated on the upper level of the embankment and partially hidden among the vegetation.
Additionally, free five-kilometer runs, or "parkruns," are held on Mikhailovskaya Embankment on Saturdays at nine in the morning for anyone who enjoys leading a healthy lifestyle. You can go for a run with your family, your dog, and your kids. Not only can you run the entire distance, but you can also walk it using Nordic or regular walking.
Play with your child: a playground and more
On the same upper level of the embankment, a unique playground opened its doors last fall.
All kids can play there with ease and enjoyment, even those with disabilities, as there are wide, padded swings and a sandbox that is significantly raised for them.
The playground’s rubberized surface makes it safe to play on, and you can even ride the carousel while pushing a stroller. In the park, there are a number of ramps available for those with restricted mobility.
Recently, an additional peculiar amusement surfaced on Mikhailovskaya Embankment, swiftly gaining popularity among kids of all ages: the street artist Pin Art, which is comprised of numerous metal tubes. You can make your own sculpture by applying light pressure! This is the first piece of art like this outside of the Urals.
Touch the Ob water: descent to the river
The lower embankment alley descends in several broad steps to the river. Although the shore’s sandy patches are untidy and "wild," the renowned Ob is literally at our feet! A boat ride is offered to those who would like it.
The river station’s ticket offices are open close to the theme park if you’d like to go on an actual trip or excursion along the river.
You can take the "Six Bridges" excursion, which will teach you a lot of fascinating facts about Novosibirsk’s past, or you can visit Korablik Island. We’re still in the middle of navigation!

Just have fun: rides
We end up in an amusement park after walking the whole embankment. From extremely "baby" to extreme, there are plenty of them here for every age and taste. You can shoot at a shooting range, float on boats, train on an astronaut simulator, and jump on trampolines. A racetrack and, of course, an assortment of carousels are also present.
Every ride is contemporary, and guests’ safety is closely observed. The costs are reasonable.
See Novosibirsk from above: Ferris wheel
Sadly, the brand-new, distinctive 70-meter Ferris wheel isn’t operating right now. Following one week of operation "in test mode," the attraction will be closed through September 1. Even so, a lot of city dwellers were able to take a ride on it and enjoy the exceptionally spacious view, cozy cabins that can accommodate six people, and the smooth ride. There is a building with a gallery and a buffet at the base of the wheel.
Let’s hope that Novosibirsk’s biggest Ferris wheel will soon be operating without any problems!
The ride costs 300 rubles; kids under 4 ride for free. 16 minutes is the trip time. All year long, the Ferris wheel will be open from 12:00 to 20:00.
