A little about the history of Kirov Park

As we have already said, in the 30s of the last century, a general plan for the development of the Left Bank was developed. The whole of it, according to the architects" idea, was to turn into a "garden city" – a third of the entire territory was planned to be turned into boulevards, parks and squares. The territory of the current monument of glory belongs to the same green zone.
since 1930, simultaneously with the construction of the buildings of the SIBCOMBAIN plant, the construction of a new “social city” was underway for its workers. In 1931, ten buildings of the communal houses already “grew”. It is interesting that several of them have been preserved so far, they are between the Monument of Glory and the square to them. Gagarina:
Near them was laid down the Kirov Park. In the fall of 1934, the first apple alley was laid. At first, the park occupied only two hectares, but every year the greenery increased – maples, elms, poplars appeared. The park was officially opened in the summer of 1936 (its area was already seven hectares), and at the same time it was named after the revolutionary S.M. Kirov.
The park has become the main green area of the entire district. There was a dance floor in it, a brass band played. There have been no rides for children yet.
After the war, in the 50s, the park began to develop: a Ferris wheel and a couple more attractions, a skating rink, a ski resort appeared. There was a large wooden cinema in the park (it was later demolished). A fountain worked, there was a stage where amateur concerts were held, a chess club, domino tables.
Now, 83 years after its birth, it is a completely modern, beautiful and interesting park of culture and recreation.

Let"s walk along the alleys of the park

Kirov Park is green, clean and usually quite quiet even on weekends. Beautiful alleys lead from the entrance into the depths, you can find a variety of plants: spruce and cedar, poplar and apple trees, lilac ..
Lots of flowers, bushes. And for those who want to relax – there is no shortage of benches. The park looks well-groomed: lawns and bushes are trimmed, broken flower beds.
Here you can constantly see families and couples taking pictures, and newlyweds especially like to have photo sessions in the park – after all, the Leninsky District Civil Registry Office is located nearby. Park im. Kirov, by the way, was awarded eight gold medals of the Siberian Fair for participation in the competition "Flowers, Gardens and Parks of Siberia".
In the center of the park is a sculpture of S. M. Kirov, installed back in the 30s. Sculptor – Vera Fedorovna Shtein. At the end of the 70s, the monument was removed, but in 2006 it was restored and put back in its original place – apparently to emphasize the name of the park. According to the recollections of old-timers, there used to be many classic Soviet "girls with an oar" here, but they were less fortunate..

"Dandelion" or "Sun" is the name of a well-liked fountain in one of the park squares.

Architects Shulgin and Drachev created it in 2003 for the city’s 110th anniversary. In warm weather, you can take a cool break next to the "dandelion," and in mild weather, you can simply enjoy the rainbow and splash play. And actual, functioning sundials exist! Architect Victor Shkarub has been decorating the park since 2008. In Novosibirsk, this is the first sundial. We verified that they accurately display the local time and weigh up to eight tons!

Entertainment in Kirov Park

There are a lot of attractions

"Even a single child can ride the carousel, the boat, or the train because there are typically not many people in the park!

By the way, every park employee we encountered was incredibly gracious and kind. All of the entertainment is reasonably priced, but you have to decide for yourself: An intriguing option is to ride everything on this website for 30 minutes for 150 rubles: Naturally, there are free amusements like playgrounds and wooden slides. And what seems to be the most popular entertainment in the park bearing his name. Kirov was the petting zoo for kids and adults alike. Though it is small and unassuming, it is open year-round, and the kids in the area already have their own favorites with four legs: goats, piglets, rabbits, and ponies.

The only thing you have to pay for is special food (you can’t feed the animals your own food, sorry!) and zoo admission is free.

Families can spend quality time together, take in the fresh air, and enjoy the beautiful scenery by going for a walk through Kirov Park. Whether it’s a thrilling adventure for the kids or a quiet moment for parents, the park has something for everyone with its wide paths, playgrounds, and serene areas for relaxation.

What else can you do in Kirov Park?

For example, sports! After running or driving along the park alleys, you can play football, table tennis or work out on the horizontal bars:
Or get acquainted with the history of Novosibirsk by visiting an open photo exhibition. Exhibitions are regularly changed, now the exhibition is dedicated to the children of Novonikolaevsk-Novosibirsk, and covers a period of about 80 years! Maybe some of the moms and dads will recognize themselves?
Or maybe you will become a spectator and listener (and possibly a participant!) of one of the concerts, competitions or holiday programs? It seems that something interesting is always happening on the stage in the depths of the park.
All important dates are certainly celebrated here, and in winter there are New Year"s trees. During school holidays, the park regularly holds theatrical performances with competitions and prizes, as well as discos.

Weary? This charming little house serves as a bookcrossing location where you can pick up and read a book. And remember to bring your own the next time—it’snolonger necessary.

Where to eat?

There won’t be any issues with this at all! Apart from tiny kiosks, Kirov Park has a number of cafes with excellent Armenian cuisine, according to reviews. Examples are "Mangal" (open from 11 to 22) and "Our yard," which has a summer veranda (open from 9 to 22). The average bill was under 300 rubles. A true banquet hall called "Eden" with an exquisite interior can be found at the entrance to the Kirov park (open 12 to 24).

Families will find Kirov Park to be the ideal haven from the hectic city life. With its expansive lawns, well-kept trails, and lovely vegetation, it’s the perfect location for a leisurely stroll or an exciting family outing.

While parents unwind and take in the fresh air, kids will adore the playgrounds and open spaces for running around. There is something to do in the park for everyone, whether you come for a short stroll or intend to stay all afternoon.

A trip to Kirov Park encourages an active, healthy lifestyle in addition to strengthening family ties. It’s a place where moments are treasured and memories are created, serving as a reminder of life’s small pleasures.
