What is cheerleading?
"Cheerleading" is the proper spelling, not "cheerleading." However, cheerleading is always written with an "e" and got its start as the word "cheerleading." In cheerleading, the letters "i" are only used for nominations such as cheer, cheer-dance, etc.d. From where did cheerleading originate? from the exciting, athletic, and passionate American college life. For basketball and football teams that played prior to university competitions, this is a support group. This group comprised the most well-liked females from the university, college, or school.
Today, cheerleading is a global sport that has spread far beyond its native country. More importantly, cheerleading is now a professional sport that can be played as early as age five, rather than just a club for young fans.
Of course, cheerleading can also be used to partner with teams and organizations to draw spectators to sporting events.
"Will my children perform in hockey?"
When selecting a cheerleading section, this is a question that some mothers ask themselves. We put this query to Tatyana Nabeeva:
– Today, cheerleading is a respectable sports direction; it’s not just girls in short skirts at hockey. It is, first and foremost, an extremely competitive sport, with the historical activity of "support groups" serving as a nice historical perk. Only professional cheerleaders compete, and only 16-year-old juniors serve as support groups during games of hockey, basketball, volleyball, and other sports.
The following disciplines have competitions for cheerleaders:
- Cheer – a program with complex acrobatic elements and the construction of pyramids.
- Cheer dance freestyle – sports dancing with elements of gymnastics, aerobics and acrobatics.
- Group stunts – a team of 4-5 people performing supports and throws in accordance with the rules.
- Partner stunts – a pair of athletes (age category male/female), performing supports in accordance with the rules.
- Cheer mix and group stunt mix – the team includes athletes of both sexes.
- Cheer-dance show is not a sports nomination, but rather refers to demonstration performances in which the spectacularity, originality and positive emotionality of the production are assessed.
There are currently European and World Cheerleading Championships, and plans are in motion to add cheerleading to the Olympic Games schedule. Novosibirsk is accredited for cheerleading, and we host the Berdsk Cheerleading Cup each year in addition to the Novosibirsk Region Championship and Championship. There are five cheerleading masters candidates in our area, and they coach kids’ teams.
"There are a ton of opportunities! Although this sport is still in its infancy, Novosibirsk juniors and children have already competed in the 2016 Russian Championship and achieved well-earned rankings. In 2014, adult teams made their Russian Championship debut.
Children"s cheerleading – prospects in Novosibirsk
Naturally, we had the opportunity to hear directly from coach Tatyana Nabeeva about the state of this sport.
Age and gender of athletes
Cheerleading groups take on members of all genders beginning at age five. The following classifications are made according to cheerleading competition regulations:
- 5-8 years old – younger children;
- 8-11 years old – boys/girls;
- 12-16 years old – juniors/juniors;
- from 16 years old – men/women.
Not only trains, but also educates!
Cheerleading, like any other sport, helps children develop emotionally in addition to their physical health. A little acting ability, such as the capacity to maintain your composure on stage, convey emotions with your movements, and keep a smile on your face throughout the entire performance, won’t hurt either! Cheerleading also fosters the development of a musical ear, sense of rhythm, and movement synchronization with music.
First and foremost, cheerleading is a team sport. Children who work as a team develop mutual trust, which is crucial when providing different kinds of supports. And the kid gains discipline, just like in any other sport.
In terms of professional and physical skills, cheerleading is a great way to improve your musicality, endurance, flexibility, and coordination. Children participate in stretching, choreography, general and specialized physical training, as well as work on gymnastics and acrobatics components.
About safety
Athletes are covered for both health and life. This is a requirement for some cheerleading disciplines as well as competition participation. Consequently, practically all children have insurance in general. Parents are concerned about their child’s health and life insurance.
Is talent needed? Or "who do they take there"?
It turns out that you don’t need anything special! Though the child’s flexibility and memory for intricately coordinated movements will give them a good head start when they approach formal education. However, the most important thing is to have a desire and to train yourself with diligence and persistence.
In cheerleading, both boys and girls are welcome. There are mixed-gender teams and teams consisting solely of women.
As cheerleading is a team sport, the only limitations are on the total number of participants and the elements that are allowed based on the athlete’s age. There are no required components, but the judges give a program a higher rating the more complex it is, particularly for synchronization and execution technique.
I don’t know about you, but when the time comes, I can’t wait to introduce my kids to this sport. According to cheerleaders, this is the sport with the most color, expression, and emotion. It incorporates all of the following: choreography, aerobics, acrobatics, and artistic and rhythmic gymnastics. There is something for everyone to enjoy here.
Cheerleading is a unique sport-dance hybrid that appeals to everyone who enjoys moving to the beat and being supportive of their team. It’s about the joy of performing and the sense of community that comes with it, not just about the flips and chants.
Cheerleading promotes discipline, fun, and teamwork, whether it’s done through routine participation or spectator cheering. Families can strengthen their bonds, observe their children’s self-assurance grow, and recognize the effort and commitment that goes into each performance.
Cheerleading may therefore be the ideal choice for you if you have a strong desire to participate in sports, dance, and a lively community. Accept the fervor and enthusiasm, and allow the cheerleading spirit to amplify your family’s passion for dance and sports.
Cheerleading offers a special fusion of athleticism and creativity that is both thrilling and fulfilling. It combines the excitement of sports with the artistry of dance. Cheerleading is the best way for people who love team sports and dance to express their passion, collaborate with others, and promote school spirit while having a great time.
