Tools for crafts

  • White cardboard or white sheet of A4 album format – 1 pc.
  • Colored cardboard – 1 brown sheet and 1 yellow sheet. White, black and red cardboard – one small piece of each color measuring 2.5 x 4 cm for the eyes, nose and tongue.

You are welcome to bring colored paper. To make applique simpler for the infant, it is preferable to use cardboard if he is only 2.5 to 3 years old.

  • A simple pencil – for drawing the details of the eyes.
  • Black felt-tip pen for drawing the pupils of the bear"s eyes.
  • Scissors. If you plan to cut it out with your child, take small children"s scissors with rounded ends.
  • Glue stick. Make sure it can glue the cardboard.
  • Compass – will be useful for an adult to mark out the circles. If there is no compass, then round objects of the same size will do for tracing. For example, a mug for the "body", a cap from a glue stick for the "ears".
  • Ruler – a regular school one, so that it is convenient to use it to measure the diameter of the circles-blanks with a compass. A length of 10 – 15 cm is quite enough.

Making an applique

An adult prepares the material if you are creating the "Bear" with a child who is younger than three. An older child would prefer to cut out the blanks on his own, but with adult supervision. Use children’s scissors with rounded ends and small rings in this situation. A compass is only used by adults.

Step 1. Cut out the base for the Teddy Bear

We take scissors, a compass, a ruler, and brown cardboard.

Using a compass on a ruler, measure:

  • 5 cm for the body, diameter – 10 cm. Draw one circle.
  • 4 cm – for the head, so that you get a blank with a diameter of 8 cm. Draw 1 circle.
  • 2 cm – for the paws. Draw two circles with diameters of 4 cm. Then cut them in half. You will get four halves – two for the upper paws, two for the lower.
  • 1.5 cm – for the ears. You will get two circles with a diameter of 3 cm. These circles do not need to be cut in half. They remain round!

To mark and cut out the blanks on a sheet of paper, follow these steps:

Create blanks out of yellow cardboard for the bear’s ears, nose, and belly. Grab a cardboard, scissors, compass, and ruler.

Create a circle for the belly by measuring 3.5 cm with a compass on a ruler. This will yield a circle with a diameter of 7 cm. Measure 1.4 cm around the ears, then draw two circles 2.4 cm in diameter. Draw the oval for the nose. The length measures 3.7 cm, while the width measures 2.3 cm. You can make an even oval by joining the ends of lines that have the same length to first outline a cross.

Step 2: Creating muzzle blanks

We will need tiny bits of cardboard or paper, no bigger than 2.5 x 4 cm, in the following colors: red for the tongue, black for the nose, and white for the eyes.

Make an outline of the tongue, nose, and eyes on the reverse side.

And trim off the muzzle blanks. What we receive is as follows:

Every blank has been created. The ruler, scissors, and compass should be taken off the table since they are no longer in use.

Step 3. Starting to assemble. Hint drawing

This is the time to call your child if you made the blanks without them and begin assembling the applique together. Make sure you send him a picture of the completed sample. You can print out a blank that specifies the size and placement of the figure for a child between the ages of 2.5 and 3. (The print-friendly file is located below the articles).

Advice: If the child is assiduous, start by arranging all the parts with him in the following, glue-free sequence. Examine the type of Teddy Bear you receive, then take them off the sheet and begin attaching each one individually. As an alternative, have your child recall which portion came first and which came last. Simply remind him to do it or have them look over the instructions together if he can’t remember.

Sequence of gluing parts

It is best to consider the order in which to fix the parts in order to facilitate the Teddy Bear’s assembly and ensure that the finished craft has a harmonious appearance. Glue the largest brown circle to the picture by matching its outline.

For the belly, cut out a yellow circle and glue it on. Placing the yellow circle slightly upwards rather than in the center of the brown one will make it look more impressive.

Adhere the head next.

Place the brown circles—which serve as the ears’ blanks—on the paper.

Consider the yellow circles representing the ear blanks. We position them so that they are marginally below the brown sections of the ears. For the eyes, symmetrically arrange and adhere the white components.

Attach the yellow section of the bear’s nose with glue, overlapping the eye parts just a little. and adhere the nose’s black portion with glue.

Bring the eyes forward. First, use a basic pencil to outline them. A grown-up can create the outline:

Additionally, the kid can use a felt-tip pen to paint over them. Paint the child’s eyes hand in hand to achieve more precise black filling in. Attach the tongue.

The Bear appears like this:
